Our work with the Deaf community in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, with partners in health, local authorities and education and with people who have a passion to work with deaf people contirbutes to our longs standing vision: For a society in which all deaf people can full participate.
At the moment we do this by providing a range of services and by working alongside the Deaf community to promote equal access, removal of barriers and the enrichment of people's lives.
NDS has been established since 1890 and has its roots in the philanthropic work of local community and church leaders. From our base in Forest Road, the Deaf Society is home to the thriving local Deaf Community and we operate services and activities from this base.
The charity is led by the Chief Executive and a team of staff and volunteers. There is a board of deaf and hearing trustees who oversee the direction and governance of the organisation.
